Chocolate Cracking: Cadbury Oreo mini eggs

A comprehensive review of the golden child of chocolate.

There'll be nice, won't they?

Will they? How do you know? Because they've got "Cadbury" and "Oreo" printed on the side? Don't be trapped.

The chocolate eggs are definitely an unexpected size. Obviously, they are significantly smaller than even the smallest of boxed Easter eggs, but are roughly three times the size of a single Cadbury Mini Egg.

An optimist might suggest that the size has been developed to offer more to people than they would have expected, filling them with joy and making them bounce around like a springy spring bunny.

Cynics, on the other hand, could argue that a bigger size means that less have to be put into a bag. I consider myself a proud cynic, so guess what camp I fall in.

The outside of the eggs were made out of traditional Cadbury chocolate, the thickness substantially fine relevant to their size. On bashing apart the eggs they revealed a grey mixture specked with brown dots that had a strangely crumbly softness.

However, the eggs were only half full. All of them. Samples of Oreo were pasted into the insides, but that's all; far from the jam-packed impression given by the packaging and greatly below even the most basic of expectations. Poundland would have done better.

The chocolate stank of standard Cadbury cost-cutting; it was "all right", but far from memorable. The Oreo had a creamy taste, but was oddly powdery - although, the brown bits turned out to be minute biscuit pieces that crunched abundantly.

The fact that they cost a pound was without doubt the best thing about them. They were also unexpectedly moreish, which could be viewed as a good or bad thing depending how far into your Weight Watchers routine you are.

Final review rating: Hollowman would not be all over these - 2* out of 5.
